Whispers of My Youth
Reverently, I tread across my grandparent's land for the first time in my adult years. She suddenly appears before me like a mirage. Like an echo. A waking memory of times long gone, unfolding in the flawless, unexpected moment of now. Twenty-five years later, perfect, precious whispers of my youth.

Portland Metro Arts
I'm pleased to have been asked by the Portland Metro Arts Center to document their candid moments leading up to the performance of La Fille Mal Gardee, which is slated to be performed at the elegant Newmark Theater on March 2nd and 3rd.
It's always a challenge to catch 'the decisive moment,' as the great Henri Cartier-Bresson so aptly described, but I love living in the place where intuition, skill, and the fleeting moment meet. Sometimes I can't find that delicate groove...And every once in awhile, I'm pleased with what I've captured.
I look forward to the coming week and to the backstage access to the show (The show itself is very entertaining not to mention that PMA is one of only 6 companies in the world to still perform this particular ballet). If you are interested in tickets, visit http://www.pdxmetroarts.org/performance for details....And here are a few quick images that came out of my first photo shoot of the group.

Another Road

| The strangeness of a Holga and outdated film |
All at once, she wants nothing more than to be married to the bold whispers of her soul and to follow them to her next big horizon. Wiping the tear from her eye, turning her face to the sunshine, she whispers her prayer to the Mystery and the sunrises to come, " I am yours."

Diffusion: Unconventional Photography
I'm excited to announce that I have recently joined the staff of Diffusion Magazine as an Editor.
I've admired the magazine of unconventional photography since its inception and I am truly looking forward to being a part of the team.
If you haven't seen this magazine and you are interested in photography even a little bit, I can't say enough about where its been and where its going. The images shown are inspirational as are the artists that make them. We've just closed our 2012 magazine's call for entries and from what the Founding Editor, Blue Mitchell, has told me, there is some exceptional work to wade through. I cannot wait.
Here's the link. Check it out!

Spooky Show, Lightbox Photographic Gallery
If you ever find yourself in Astoria, Oregon (home of the Goonies!) do yourself a favor and visit Lightbox Photographic Gallery. Michael and Chelsea Granger have worked tirelessly to create a photography center that is quickly creating a buzz in the photographic world. The space is gorgeous and the shows they bring to the area are exceptional (plus, they're genuinely nice folks). Lightbox is a wonderful addition to the Northwest art scene.
I am proud to have two of my pieces gracing the walls of the Lightbox Gallery through the month of October in their Spooky Show. Here is one of my images that is in the show:
And here is the link to see the entire show. Check it out, it's a lot of fun: LightBox Gallery's Spooky Show

From The Archives
I'm going through old photos, trying to decide what's going on my website and what isn't. So far, I've scrapped everything about 100 times. At this rate, my website will be done when I'm 107.
Here are a couple from the archives that I actually enjoy:

Darcelle's, Portland, OR
Darcelle's Showplace is infamous in Portland and for good reason: their world famous female impersonators have been wooing audiences for over 40 years. Over the summer, I was given the unique opportunity to photograph the ladies of Darcelle's XV as they prepared for their nightly show and snoop around their dressing room. I admit that I didn't even pick up my camera during the show itself, because I just wanted to enjoy it, but here is a small sample of some images that I took in the dressing room.....

Newest Project
What started out as a photo assignment has turned into a full-on creative fervor. I seem to be following the creative instinct much like Alice followed the white rabbit....and I'm visiting places nearly as strange.
